GPS Point of Interest Files

UK Repeater GPS Point of Interest Files

The following files are available to import the locations of all UK Repeaters into a Garmin compatable GPS, Tom Tom compatible GPS and various mapping software. The ZIP files (recommended) contains all files (UK as a whole and each region).

Microsoft Autoroute, Anquet Maps (version 6) and Memory Map are capable of importing GPX files directly.

Garmin Instructions

  1. Download Garmin POI Loader
  2. Load GPX Files using the POI Loader.

Tom Tom Logo OV2 POI for Tom Tom GPS Units.

Binary OV2 Files can be directly uploaded to your Tom Tom unit. OV2 is only available for the whole of the UK but ASC below files are regionalised.

ASC files are editable but require processing before uploading to your Tom Tom. Use the pre-made OV2 Files if uncertain (although they may not be as up-to-date).

Tom Tom Instructions

  1. Create a folder on your desktop
  2. Download the ASC files you need to the folder created in step one. (unzip them!).
  3. Download Tom Tom OV2Tools to the same folder.
  4. Extract OV2Tools to the SAME folder as the ASC files.
  5. Open a Command Promt (Start -> Accessories -> Command Promt)
  6. Change Directory to the folder you created in step 1
  7. Type makeov2 "Uk Repeaters All.asc" (or chossen regional file)
  8. makeov2 will create an OV2 file and an Icon with the same name (UK Repeaters All in this example)
  9. Move the OV2 File and the BMP file to your Tom Tom as normal
