Committee Members
Each year committee members are elected from the membership at the AGM and are tasked to carry out the day to day management of the network. Repairs and new installations are carried out and planned by committee members, in accordance with members wishes. Committee members also manage the groups finances, Insurance, liase with the ETCC and ensure the network complies with our licensing conditions as dictated by Ofcom, the UK licensing regulator.
The committee carry out a great deal of work to keep our repeater network running, most of this work is not generally seen and carried out in their own time. The committee can be contacted anytime using the contact form (Click Contact on the menu).
Mike GM1WKR Chairman
Mike took over the GRG Chair from Chas GM8LMA in 2009 and, hopes to, continue the good work done by Chas. He has been licensed since 1985 and enjoys anything to do with Radio but comes from an Intensive Care Nursing background. He has a keen interest in web technologies so if this website breaks you know who to blame! Mike is often described as a 'tinkerer'.
Heather Duguid MM1DGO Secretary and Treasurer
Heather has been licensed for about 10 years now and enjoys listening but remains Mic Shy, saying that once she starts talking ... Heather work in IT Support for Aberdeen University and is a very capable Secretary and Treasurer. Heather is also the long suffering partner of Mike.
Charles Mackinnon GM8LMA Technical Manager
Charles has been involved with GRG for many years and is a past President of the Group. He works in Broadcast and Telecomms Installation and Maintenance and brings an immense amount of professional knowledge and resources to the group. Charles has the unenviable job of keeping old equipment servicable and planning the future of the network with a limited budget. Charles is the groups most treasured asset!
John Hutchinson GM0OYT Information Officer
John is a long standing GRG committee member and now serves as our (dis) information coordinator and is central to the committee. John is active on all the higher bands including 70MHz and 1296MHz and is often found on the Digi-Modes or on satellite. John is also very keen to commission a 29MHz repeater.
Dave Scott 2M0DDS Committee Member
Dave is a long standing member of GRG and has served on the committee for the last 5 years. Dave works as a hydraulic engineer in the North Sea and is enjoys climbing radio towers as can be seen from his photograph (The tower is at MM0ALM and 135 foot high). Many of our antenna have been constructed and installed by Dave. Dave is a keen HF DXer and active on all HF bands including top-band.
Other Helpers
The committe is supported by the membership in general including the shutdown operators, independent inspectors and members of the telecommunications and broadcast industry.
